Message:	$first_name $last_name, $title $area Dear $first_name, I recently learned that $area has received a poor grade from the Ski Area Citizens' Coalition's 2007/2008 Ski Area Environmental Scorecard. I care about the environment and would like to see the ski areas that I enjoy engage in environmentally friendly practices. While mitigation measures that try to offset negative development impacts can be beneficial to the environment, to be truly environmentally friendly ski areas must seriously consider preservation practices of undisturbed lands when evaluating future development scenarios. In addition ski areas need to take seriously cutting global warming causing emissions and supporting clean, renewable energy sources. Few industries have more to lose from global climate change caused by excessive greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere than the ski industry. I was dismayed to learn of $area's grade. I plan to use the Ski Area Environmental Scorecard as a guide to help choose my ski vacation each year. Since I would prefer to continue to patronize your resort in the future, I hope you will work to improve your score. Only through a balance of responsible preservation and proactive mitigation can a ski area excel in environmental stewardship.
